training the Ukrainian Army
Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Manitoba Provincial Council invites the Community to a presentation on Canada’s military contribution to training the new Ukrainian Army.
Monday, 18 April 2016 beginning at 7:00 pm.
St Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral Auditorium
820 Burrows Avenue (Entrance from Sinclair Street), Winnipeg
The presentation will be led by Major Cindy Legarie, who was the deputy commander of the original contingent of Canadian Armed Forces members who deployed to Ukraine as part of Operation UNIFIER to participate in the training of Ukrainian soldiers,
Operation UNIFIER is Canada’s contribution to support Ukrainian forces through capacity building, in coordination with the U.S. and other countries providing similar training assistance. Military assistance is one component of Canada’s support to Ukraine across development, security, democracy, and humanitarian aid.
The training mission occurs under the rubric of the Multinational Joint Commission which includes Ukraine, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Canada joined the Joint Commission in January 2015, and co-chairs, with Ukraine, the Sub-Committee on Military Policing.
