Every summer thousands come out to enjoy Folklorama. But you don’t have to wait till summer to celebrate culture in Winnipeg.
Last November there was a joint venture with Zoloto Ukrainian Dance Ensemble & Company which produces the Spirit of Ukraine pavilion and the Irish Association of Manitoba which produces the Irish pavilion. This two night event celebrated the food, drink, music and dance of both cultures while raising funds to assist the volunteers in their Folklorama efforts. The sold out crowds both nights dined on hearty meal of perogies, holubtsi, kubasa, Irish stew, soda bread and Guinness sausage. Throughout the night Zoloto showcased dances for various regions of Ukraine and the McDonnell School of Irish dance performed a number of dances.
It was a popular success so Gaelic & Garlic Gala Dinners are returning for 3 days this April. Friday April 7th and Saturday April 8th people can once again dine and enjoy the show and we have added a special Sunday afternoon dessert only matinee this time around. The bar at the Irish Club(654 Erin Street)will be fully stocked with the usual Irish fare and Ukrainian beer and vodka. Live music and raffle prizes to be won each day.
For the second edition of this event, tickets are available online at the Eventbrite website: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/
The Spirit of Ukraine Pavilion will be at 2050 Chevrier Blvd August 6th to 13th 2017. If you wish to volunteer or perform please email firstname.lastname@example.org
