It has been nearly 10 years since award-winning Winnipeg filmmaker John Paskievich captured the heart of the neighbourhood where he grew up, with his ever-present camera. The images were presented in his book, The North End: Photographs by John Paskievich, published by University of Manitoba Press (UMP) in October 2007.
To celebrate UMP’s 50th anniversary, the publisher will be releasing a revised edition of Paskievich’s book this fall. Titled The North End Revisited: Photographs by John Paskievich, the critically acclaimed book will feature 80 new images.
It will also include an introduction by art critic and Geist Magazine founder Stephen Osborne, an interview with Winnipeg Free Press pop culture columnist Alison Gillmor, and an essay by film scholar George Melnyk.
The book launch will be held at McNally Robinson Booksellers,
Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
