A Popular Front for Russian Nationalism

Two academics recently spoke at a meeting that was held at the Ukrainian Labour Temple in Winnipeg.

The topic was the situation in Eastern Ukraine. These two individuals then attended a meeting in Crimea which produced a Declaration (https://www.greenleft.org.au/node/56900). The conference in the Crimea was attended by members of the Stalinist left and the pro-Russian far right. It produced a Manifesto of the Popular Front for the National Liberation of Ukraine, Novorossiya and Transcarpathian Rus’.

An analysis of the conference and its pronouncements can be found in an article by Dale Street(http://www.workersliberty.org/story/2014/07/23/popular-front-russian-nationalism). Street’s article shows the connections between the Russian fascist groups, the far right in Europe and the far left from Canada. It shows where the financial support comes from; and it demonstrates the real goal of this conference — to support Russian imperial expansion.
